Trial lecture and public defense: Axel Rudi

Axel Rudi, Department of Social Anthropology will defend his PhD thesis "Death as Victory, Victory as Death: Violence, Martyrdom and the Cosmology of Revolution in the Kurdish Freedom Movement". The defense and trial lecture is open to the public.

Axel Rudi, Department of Anthropology, will give a trial lecture for the PhD degree on the assigned topic: 
Broaden the focus on martyrdom, in particular, focus and speak about sacrifice in more conceptual terms that link your arguments with theories of sacrifice in general


Public defense

The title of the thesis is: 
Death as Victory, Victory as Death: Violence, Martyrdom and the Cosmology of Revolution in the Kurdish Freedom Movement (See abstract for further details.)

Professor Faisal Devji, St Anthony’s College, University of Oxford

Second opponent: 
Associate Professor Banu Bargu, History of Consciousness Department, University of California, Santa Cruz
     
The third member of the committee is Professor Andrew Lattas, Department of Social Anthropology, University of Bergen


The public defence will be chaired by Associate Professor Peter Andersen
