On the 22. of August we met up with our Danish collegues, who came from Copenhagen with the early morning flight, at Bergen railway station. We took the local train into the mountains towards the second last stop called Uppsete. Uppsete has a traditional mountain lodge ("fjellstove") ideal for smaller project retreats. The place offers various hiking possibilities and has beatiful nature. In addition, there is absolutely no mobile and internet coverage. All this is an excellent frame for getting together, intense conversations, discussions, exchanges and development of ideas.

Our program focused on common issues related to research on Islamic law in the Scandinavian countries as well as discussing epistemological understandings of "Islamic law", "Sharia" and "fiqh", terms and concepts of course also highly relevant for the other work packages in the project. We also worked on developing new project concepts.
