Steinar Eikaas is VP of Low Carbon Solutions in Equinor and will speak about the energy transition and explain which tools we have available to reach a zero carbon energy system as quickly as possible and at the lowest possible cost.

Abstract: The key is to understand the difference between energy in the form of electrons and stored energy in the form of molecules, where the latter is by far the most difficult to decarbonise as renewable sources like solar and wind do not deliver power on-demand. Equinor has several projects and initiatives ongoing to adress deep decarbonization of the energy system based on existing technology and resources in the North Sea (Natural gas converted to hydrogen with CCS), and these will be presented in the context of reaching a clean energy system in Europe by 2050.

This seminar will be held in the Auditorium 4 at Realfagsbygget (Allégaten 41), from 12:15 to 13:00 (we open the doors at 12:00). As always it is free and open to all interested parties, so bring your lunch and join us for an interesting presentation followed bya Q&A session.
