During the Meltzer dinner March 6, rector Margareth Hagen at the University of Bergen presented the Meltzer prize for exceptional science communication to professor Eva Gerdts

The jury’s justification included that Eva Gerdts has not only distinguished herself as a leading researcher of heart diseases, but also as a passionate and excellent communicator of her science.

She is a pioneer in communicating the importance of sex differences in heart disease. Through her long career, she has demonstrated an exceptional ability to communicate complicated medical themes in a simple and engaging language to a broad public. Her science communication has brought increased awareness of heart disease, in particular among women, and inspired many to make healthy choices to preserve a better heart health.
