Hear Morten Heiselberg from the Picture Collection (Billedsamlingen) explore Bergen’s photographic history from 1850 to 1950. Through this lecture, you will gain insight into the development of both the city and the photographers who documented it.
The Picture Collection is one of Norway’s largest and most highly regarded archives of historical photography. Its holdings comprise around half a million photographic images, ranging from individual photographs to extensive archives donated by photographers, collectors and private individuals.
This lecture is the second event in the series Stories from the Special Collections, a collaboration between the University of Bergen’s Staff Welfare Committee and the Special Collections at the University Library. The series offers engaging stories, inspiring speakers and an opportunity to socialise over light refreshments.
On this occasion, the lecture will be delivered in English, making it accessible to employees who are less confident in Norwegian while, of course, remaining open to everyone who would like to attend.
The lecture series will feature approximately one event each month and will alternate between Norwegian and English.
