IT services for visitors

UiB continuously has visits from external students and researchers, guest lecturers, conference attendees and other public or commercial partners. IT services are as crucial for many of our guests as for internals.

Internet access from a laptop is sufficient for many of our visitors at UiB. Others need additional services. The IT division aims to provide the IT services needed for yout visit, but also needs to restrict access for security reasons.

Most ICT services at UiB require a user account. For guests, alternative account options are available depending on which ICT resources are necessary.

Internet

Wireless computer network provides access to the Internet in most places on the university campus. Students and staff at universities and colleges can use eduroam. Others can use the guest network UiB-guest.

Login to UiB-PC

The university's PCs require login. If you need this, you must get a short-term guest account. Managers and many employees can create such accounts for guest lecturers, course participants and others.

Do you need more IT services?

Several IT services are available with a long-term guest account. Managers at the university's departments can obtain such a user account. Relevant users are guest researchers and others with connections to the university.
