The Michael Sars Centre offers funding opportunities for the visitors program with the amount of funding determined by individual research needs. The Visitors Program does not cover salary for the visiting researcher, nor does it grant an employment status at the University of Bergen. We encourage interested researchers to apply to local and international funding bodies, for example:
- EMBO offers Scientific Exchange Grants “supporting international collaborations, enabling the transfer of expertise.”
- The Company of Biologists offers Traveling Fellowships.
- Boehringer-Ingelheim Fonds offers travel grants.
- Foreign Embassies provide funding for small scale and specific exchange projects that might apply (e.g. US embassy grant program, the Franco-Norwegian Aurora mobility program and Åsgard program).
We support our visitors in finding appropriate accommodation for their stay – for example, in housing run by the University of Bergen. Early planning increases the chances of finding accommodation near the Centre.
