A momentous day for Norway, a momentous day for Literature!

In celebration of the esteemed Norwegian playwright, author, and poet Jon Fosse clinching the Nobel Prize in Literature, the Norwegian Embassy in Athens and the Norwegian Institute at Athens came together yesterday to host a reception, providing an opportunity to witness the ceremony and commemorate this remarkable achievement.

Her Excellency Lajla Brandt Jakhelln, Ambassador of Norway to Greece, inaugurated the reception with an introduction to Jon Fosse and his literary contributions. Additionally, Mrs. Saropoulou, translator, and theater director, shared valuable insights from her experience directing theatrical performances based on Fosse's work, offering anecdotes from their acquaintance.

A truly memorable occasion marking Norway's literary excellence!

The University of Bergen and the NIA as an organic part it, are especially proud and honored for this Nobel Prize as Jon Fosse is a University of Bergen Alumnus (BA on Literature) and was given an honorary doctorate from the University of Bergen for his contribution in World Literature.
