Five years in, the GDPR has raised the bar for data protection significantly. At the same time, systemic issues remain in many digital ecosystems – for example, large social media platforms and the advertising industry have seemingly done little to mitigate their intrusive data practices. Why is this the case, and how are supervisory authorities working to meet this challenge? What role will new regulation, such as the EU’s DSA and DMA, play in this regard? These are some of the questions Judin will discuss in his lecture, titled: "GDPR enforcement in practice and the road ahead”. In the lecture, Judin will talk for around 45 minutes, before taking questions for around 30 minutes.

Tobias Judin heads the International Section at the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, where he is responsible for international cooperation, cross-border cases and cases regarding international transfers. Additionally, he represents Norway in the European Data Protection Board, and he is a Co-Chair of the Global Privacy Assembly’s International Enforcement Working Group. Tobias is a lawyer, technologist and sinologist by education.
