The book New Subaltern Politics: Reconceptualizing Hegemony and Resistance in Contemporary India (Oxford University Press), which associate professor Alf Gunvald Nilsen has co-edited with Srila Roy (University of the Witwatersrand) was the subject of events in both Oslo and Copenhagen last week.

The Asia Network at the University of Oslo organized a presentation and discussion of the book the Centre for Development and the Environment on Tuesday 08.09. Alf Nilsen presented the book along with Srila Roy, and Geir Heierstad and Arild Engelsen Ruud provided comments. On Friday 11.09, the Centre for Global South-Asian Studies at the University of Copenhagen organized a discussion of the book where Nilsen and Roy where joined by Kenneth Bo Nielsen (postdoctoral fellow, Department of Sociology, UiB) and Luisa Steur (anthropology, Copenhagen University) - both of whom have contributed chapters to the book. The event in Copenhagen is available as a podcast from Nilsen's blog.
