The degree of Dr.Philos. (Doctor Philosophiae) is not subject to the arrangements for organized doctoral education, and has its own regulations. The text found under Submission, evaluation and public defence , the Guidelines for evaluation for the Dr.Philos. degree, and Regulations for the degree of Doctor Philosophiae (Dr.Philos.) at the University of Bergen (revised in 2022) provide the necessary information about the requirements. Candidates admitted, or earlier admitted to organized doctoral education cannot present themselves for the degree of Dr.Philos.
