Artificial intelligence is challenging established boundaries for how sensitive data can be collected, analyzed, and used. In Norway and the EU, this development unfolds in the tension between innovation and the protection of fundamental rights. New data‑driven models make it possible to infer sensitive information—such as health, economic, or security‑related conditions—from publicly available data. How can AI be developed and deployed without undermining privacy, legal safeguards, and public trust? This seminar explores dilemmas related to data access, discrimination, accountability, and regulation at a time when both technology and legal frameworks are evolving rapidly.

NORA's Cutting Edge AI Seminars

A hybrid seminar series from NORA that sheds light on the latest developments in artificial intelligence, and addresses topics that are important for Norway and for Norwegian research and innovation.

The Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium (NORA) is a Norwegian collaboration between 17 universities, university colleges and research institutes within AI, machine learning and robotics. Since its inception in 2018, NORA has established two research schools, a network for industry, and support for start-ups, and has become an authority that is asked for advice on national issues.
