PhD Johannes Just Hjertaas

Johannes Just Hjertaas defended the PhD degree 05.06.23 with the thesis entitled "Measurement of the left ventricular deformation using 3D echocardiography".

A good crowd attended the public defence and for sure increased their knowledge on use of strain methods for evaluation of cardiac function. Both the trial lecture and dissertation demonstrated the vast knowledge of the candidate within computer programming and echocardiography. The Dissertation was chaired by professor Ketil Grong. The opponents associate professor Denisa Muraru from University of Milano Bicocca and Professor Thor Edvardsen from University of Oslo both managed to engage the candidate in an interesting scientific discussion. The scientific evaluation committee was chaired by professor Odd Helge Gilja from University of Bergen. Professor emeritus Knut Matre and Professor Eva Gerdts were proudly watching from the third row. We congratulate Johannes with an excellent PhD defence!
