Recognition beyond difference: for a politics of indifference
Safatle is in Bergen in his capacity as head of the Committee for international cooperation, Facultade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciencias Humanas (FFLCH) at Universiade de Sao Paulo. Last April, UiB and USP-FFFLCH, signed an agreement on cooperation and exhchange.

Main content
Safatle will give an informal talk, followed by discussion. The topic is related to his latest book, recently published in English: Grand Hotel Abbyss: Desire, Recognition and the Restoration of the Subject (Leuven, 2016)
Safatles philosophical interests include psychoanalysis (Lacan) and critical theory (he has, among other things, been responsible for the portugese translation of Adorno’s works). His publications often touch on contemporary political questions as well.
