Main content

UiB has structured its digitalisation efforts through an overarching portfolio board and three underlying product boards: for digital learning environments, digital research services, and digital administration and communication.

Portfolio Board for Digitalisation

The portfolio board, on behalf of the University Director, is responsible for overseeing digitalisation efforts at UiB, in line with the University of Bergen's Strategy 2023-2030 and the Strategy for Digital Transformation in the Higher Education Sector. The portfolio board is responsible for making overarching decisions related to the service and product portfolio, projects, and management. The portfolio board can provide budget recommendations to the university leadership for earmarked funds for areas or projects that require additional reinforcement.

The portfolio board consists of the directors of the central administration and two faculty directors, and is chaired by the University Director. The portfolio board meets approximately three times per semester.

See the meeting schedule for spring 2025 in the fact box.

Product Boards

The product boards are responsible for the holistic development and management of products, services, and systems within their respective product areas. The product boards often function as steering committees for projects within their area. The product boards present roadmaps for joint prioritisation in the portfolio board and can recommend areas or projects that need additional reinforcement. The product boards are responsible for prioritisation within their respective product areas and provide the basis for major initiatives, long-term, and strategic decisions to the portfolio board.

Methodology and Support Functions

All products and services across the portfolio are managed and reported according to UiB's project methodology, which is based on the Project Guide, the recommended project model for the public sector. Major changes or the development of new services are organised as separate projects. Plans and documentation related to our projects are collected in UiB's project portal.

All UiB project managers are part of a dedicated network for project managers, and the projects can receive support for project management, risk management, process improvement, benefit analysis, communication, and stakeholder management from UiB's Resource Group for Projects and Products.

If you need more information, you can contact the secretariat for the portfolio board (see fact box).
