UiB’s Responsibility as Host Institution for MSCA Candidates

On this page, you will find information about UiB’s role and responsibilities as the host institution for visiting researchers coming to UiB through Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Secondment Agreements.

Main content

Health Rights and Health Insurance

  • EU citizens have health rights through the European social security system. Visiting researchers should bring a European Health Insurance Card and, if applicable, the S1 health entitlement form.
  • Non-EU citizens do not have the same rights to healthcare in the EU/EEA as EU citizens.
    • Stays up to 90 days: If the visiting researcher holds a residence permit in another EU/EEA country, they must check whether they can stay in Norway without a visa or if they need a visitor visa. UiB may need to consider acting as a sponsor, covering health insurance and providing a financial guarantee for the guest.
    • Stays over 90 days: A residence permit as a researcher on own funds is required.

UiB generally does not assume insurance responsibility for guests, but always check whether the terms of the secondment agreement require UiB as the host institution to provide insurance coverage.

Recommendation

We recommend that all guests have valid travel insurance during their stay at UiB.
