Research stays abroad (November 2025-)

Goal of the improvement initiative: To develop a policy outlining what the University of Bergen covers in connection with research stays abroad, and how the university should practice this. Clarification of tax regulations as part of the policy.
Create new knowledge articles and a new structure in UiBHjelp for the Service Centre for salary, travel and absence (Autumn 2025–)
Working group: Marlen Bassili Herland and Hanne Lie Burkeland (Service centre for salary, travel and absence).
Goal of the improvement initiative: Create new and more user‑friendly knowledge articles in UiBHjelp for the Service centre for salary, travel and absence.

Creation of new websites for the Service centre for salary, travel and absence (februar 2025)
Working group: Marlen Bassili Herland (Service centre for salary, travel and abcence), Hanne Lie Burkeland (Service centre for salary, travel and absence) and Sandra Goya (Service centre for salary, travel and abcence).
Goal of the improvement initiative: To create new and more user‑friendly web pages for the ervice centre for salary, travel and absence.
Outcome: New web pages.
Employment through Elements (May-August 2025)
Working group: Gerd Johannessen (Service centre for salary, travel and abcence), Philip Christian Louis Bye-Pedersen (Service centre for salary, travel and abcence), Arve Sennesvik (Faculty for Humanities), Hilde Bergheim Johannessen (Faculty of Medicine), Elin Myhrvold (Faculty of Medicine), Kari Lønøy (HR-department) and Are Alsaker Styve (HR-department).
Goal of the improvement initiative: To ensure a user‑oriented and standardized process at all stages so that all employees have a signed employment contract, and the employment is registered in SAP, prior to the start of their employment.
Outcome: A standardized template for the “n‑note”, including a checklist in Skrivehjelp, for submitting employment cases to the Service centre for salary, travel and abcence. Other measures are pending in connection with the implementation of the new case‑processing system.
Salary determination for elected and appointed positions to and from ordinary positions (September–November 2025)
Working group: Anita Helen Spurkeland (Service centre for salary, travel and abcence), Robert Kjærgård (HR-department), Jan Frode Knarvik (HR-department), Kari Lønøy (department) and Are Alsaker Styve (HR-department).
Goal of the improvement initiative: To ensure a standardized process at all stages so that all individuals in elected positions have their new salary registered and are informed in due time, either when entering a new position or returning to their ordinary post.
Outcome: A routine description for salary determination and registration for academic leadership positions and elected roles.
