Election to the University Board 2026

Candidate - Tine Tronrud

Main content

I am running for election to the University Board because I want to contribute to a university that combines high academic quality with good and predictable conditions for those who work and study here.

As a PhD candidate, I experience daily how the university’s priorities and structural frameworks affect research, teaching, and working conditions. The PhD period is characterized by high expectations, temporary contracts, and uncertainty regarding future career prospects. I believe the university must provide clear frameworks, genuine opportunities for professional development, and meaningful participation in decision-making processes that affect early-career researchers.

Through my role as the leader of PsykSTIP, I have worked on issues concerning PhD candidates and temporary academic staff, particularly related to working conditions and career paths. My experience in the Research and Education Committee (FFU) and as a deputy member of the Department Council has given me insight into how priorities are set and decisions are made at different levels of the organization. This has strengthened my conviction that the perspectives of temporary staff must be clearly represented when strategic decisions are taken.

The university is currently facing a period marked by financial uncertainty and structural changes. In such times, it is crucial that decisions are knowledge-based, transparent, and long-term. I am running for election because I want to help ensure that excellence in research and education is developed within frameworks that also provide predictability and development opportunities for those at the beginning of their academic careers.
