Internship at Veyt:
The internship is designed to provide valuable, hands-on experience for master's students, allowing them to engage in professional/academic practice within a company working closely with low carbon markets and policy. Throughout the internship, students will participate in the daily operations of the host institution, performing relevant research and/or policy work under the guidance of experienced researchers, analysts, and mentors. This experience will enable students to develop a deeper understanding of how climate policy translates into practice.
Examples of topics and tasks relevant for an internship with Veyt:
· Tracking policy and carbon pricing developments in key trading partner countries with the EU. Monitor and analyze the latest policy developments related to carbon pricing in major trading partner countries of the EU, to feed into project related to the effect on global carbon pricing of EUs Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
· Mapping national carbon removals support policies and policy Interaction with Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF). Conduct in-depth analysis of national policies supporting carbon removals, in Europe and globally, with a view to understand the role of negative emissions/carbon removals in the world’s emissions trading systems.
· Contribute to Veyt’s assessment of policy design proposals and options at play in the comprehensive review of the EU ETS framework aimed at implementing EUs overall climate target for 2040. Track and categorise positions on the 2040 climate target implementing files – on elements such as ETS stringency, free allocation phase-out, role of carbon removals and international carbon credits across a wide array of stakeholders: member states, European Parliament groups and members, and industry stakeholders.
· Following EU Member state transportation emissions policy and building efficiency policy. Monitor and analyze the transportation emissions policies and building efficiency policies of EU member states. Identify areas of overlap between these policies and the upcoming emission trading system for transport and buildings (ETS2)
