This session will give staff an opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and suggestions related to diversity and inclusion at UiB. Ethnicity, structural barriers, and how we can create a more inclusive academic environment will be the focus of the session.
Our goal for the meeting is to open a dialogue on diversity and discrimination in Norwegian academia, allowing participants to contribute ideas that will help shape UiB’s action plan for inclusion.

In her talk, Marta Bivand Erdal will explore how experiences of inclusion and discrimination in academia are shaped at the intersection of the formal and the informal. She highlights how everyday interactions and expectations influence workplace culture, especially for younger and international researchers. The talk invites reflection on both individual and institutional roles in fostering open and supportive academic communities.
