Project Secure Research Systems

To improve the information security of the IT equipment and IT systems at the University a three-year project will be carried out. The project will survey, review and ensure the safe operation and management of IT systems and IT equipment at the departments, in research groups and elsewhere at the University.

The project owner is the University Director. The appointment of the steering group and the initiation of the Secure Research Systems project is based on the University board case 120/21.

UiB uses basic principles for ICT security as set down by the The Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM), as well as it's own Management system for information security and privacy (SIP). The purpose of the system is to be able to safeguard information security and privacy in accordance with laws and regulations.

The management system for information security and privacy at UiB shall help to support the institution's goals, values and primary tasks.

The project must actively inform the academic communities about the purpose and necessity of securing systems, and in dialogue with the system owners and local staff, consider alternative solutions where the security is not deemed adequate.
