Hello, my name is Anna, and I am the new research assistant to the research group for Natural Resource Law, Environmental Law and Development Law. I am a fourth-year law student at the University of Bergen. This semester my courses are Energy Law, International Climate Law and Legal Technology. Previous to studying law, I studied at the police academy, where I fell head over heels for law. I have also taken courses in gender studies.

Outdoor life has always been a big part of my life, but it was during my service in the army I really learned to appreciate nature. My love for nature is also the reason why I am interested in climate and environmental law. Both small and large consequences of climate change become very clear when you spend time outside in nature.

Through my position as chairman of the board at the Norwegian Hiking Association youth (DNT ung) I get challenged on political questions concerning the climate crisis and the nature crisis. This is also the reason for my interest in the legal aspect of energy, climate, and environmental law. The most engaging aspect of law is the distinction between law and politics. Most of my knowledge about climate and nature is political. I am looking forward to gaining a deeper insight into the legal aspects of this.

In the future, I am especially looking forward to learning more about the transition to greener energy. It will be particularly exciting to follow the developments in the hydrogen market, and how the EU will process in the matter of a green change.

Most of my free time is spent skiing, climbing, or hiking in or around Bergen. During my four years in Bergen, I have had a part time job as a hiking guide and advisor. Should there be a sunny day in Bergen, and you need hiking tips, the I am the right person to ask!

I am looking forward to learning more about the research group’s work and participating in the future.
