Stein Rokkan bio forthcoming

Upon an initiative by Professor Stein Kuhnle and Norwegian Social Science Data Services Director Bjørn Henrichsen, author Arild Stubhaug has begun writing the official biography of comparative politics co-founder Stein Rokkan.

Newspaper Bergens Tidende reports 29. November that author Arild Stubhaug has begun the three-year process of writing the official biography of Stein Rokkan. Professor Stein Rokkan was instrumental in promoting the development of the social sciences in Bergen. He was chief researcher at Chr. Michelsen Institute in Bergen before his 1966 appointment to professor in Sociology at the University of Bergen with special responsibility for developing the field of comparative politics.

Stubhaug has peviously written the biography of mathematician Nils Henrik Abel. Professor Stein Kuhnle of the Department of Comparative Politics and Norwegian Social Science Data Services Director Bjørn Henrichsen launched the well-received idea of writing the biography.
