The Kitchen Dinner format invites artists to share a meal with guests, creating space for meaningful conversations around artistic practice and broader societal issues. The event brought together researchers, artists, and community members to explore socio-ecological sustainability through food, dialogue, and collaboration.
During the evening, NIMBLE WEAVERS co-ordinator Robin Everett introduced the initiative, which includes a series of events, workshops, and an exhibition at Hordaland Kunstsenter. PhD researcher Janne Thomsen presented her ongoing research on the role of diverse values of nature in spatial planning, focusing on proposed infrastructure developments within the Nordhordland UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Artist Ase Brunborg Lie shared their perspective as an artist-in-residence in the ACTIONABLE project and announced plans for 2026, including thematic hikes and workshops in Nordhordland, future Kitchen Dinners, and an exhibition at Hordaland Kunstsenter.
A vegetarian meal was prepared by Amber Ablett and Ase Brunborg Lie, using locally sourced ingredients from Ablett’s garden on Osterøy, part of the Nordhordland UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In connection with the Biosphere Day 2025, which focused on food security and local communities in Nordhordland, the menu featured climate-resilient vegetables, highlighting the potential of local food systems in addressing future challenges.
