Mollusca is the second most speciose animal phylum; it consists of over 100,000 described extant species in eight major lineages. The researchers used transcriptome and genome data from nearly all of these lineages and recovered a well-supported topology for the phylum. Their phylogenetic results support some new and interesting conclusions about mollusca lineages.
