On October 19, Mohammad Tareq Hasan defended his doctoral thesis for the PhD Degree at the University of Bergen with the thesis "Industry, Work, and Capitalism in Bangladesh: An Ethnography of Neoliberalism in the Asian Tiger Economy". The trial lecture took place earlier the same day.

Mohammad Tareq Hasan's research is based on 15 months long fieldwork among garment workers in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
