Main content

Part I: We will focus on the following topics in our keynotes:

  • Partnership North-South: How can we best cooperate?
To foster effective North-South partnerships, we should prioritize mutual respect, open communication, and shared goals to address global challenges collaboratively. Acknowledging and addressing the impacts of historical colonization is crucial for building equitable and just partnerships. Keynote: Dr Catherine Kyobutungi, Executive Director of the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) and Editors-in-Chief PLOS Global Public Health.

  • Climate changes: How can we best contribute to reducing this problem?
The status of climate change is alarming, with rising global temperatures, increasing sea levels, and more frequent extreme weather events. How does this affect our work in global health? A specific example will be discussed: Heat induced kidney disease. Keynotes: Senior consultant and Professor Carl-Gustaf Elinder, Karolinska University Hospital and Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. Professor Helge Drange, Geophysical institute, University of Bergen

  • Future global health challenges
We will hear and discuss new information about the Global burden of disease project, and about how to prioritize in global health.
Keynotes: Professor Simon Øverland, Centre for International Health, University of Bergen, Professor Kjell Arne Johansson, Bergen Centre for Ethics and Priority Setting in Health (BCEPS), University of Bergen and Professor Emeritus Stein Emil Vollset, Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care, University of Bergen.

  • Artificial intelligence in global health. How can we best use this resource?
Artificial intelligence holds great promise for enhancing global health by improving disease diagnosis, optimizing treatment plans, and enabling better health management. Keynote: Professor Pinar Heggernes, University of Bergen.
