Amanda Kvarven (University of Bergen) will present today. Kvarven is a PhD candidate at the Department of Economics, and her presentation is titled:

"Does Meta-Analysis Promote Cumulative Science? A Resampling Approach"

Abstract:
Recent work suggests that meta-analyses typically fail to provide accurate summaries of research literatures. In this paper, we use a resampling approach to study whether meta-analyses may work well in a setting where a larger proportion of research is pre-registered. To do this, we randomly add unbiased replication studies to an existing meta-analysis. We then test both the Random Effects and Fixed Effects model.
