Abstract
Eye movements analysis and pupillometry in visual working memory studies

Visual working memory allows us to maintain and use visual information to solve ongoing tasks. For example, when assembling a LEGO set, you may need to remember an image from the instructions in order to find and attach the correct piece. Researchers record eye movements and changes in pupil size to gain insight into the different stages of this process: from encoding visual input into memory, through maintaining it, to retrieving and using it for the task at hand. In this talk, I will briefly review previous studies in this field and then present findings from our recent study, illustrating both the challenges and the opportunities of using eye tracking in visual memory research.

Abstract
Advances in remote eye-tracking and gaze analysis
Talk : 90 mins

Technological advances have transformed the field of eye-tracking in two key ways.

First, researchers can now conduct eye-tracking studies remotely using only a standard webcam. This development enables participants to take part from the comfort of their own homes, while allowing researchers to collect large-scale, globally distributed data in a fast and efficient manner.
Second, significant progress has been made in the analysis of eye-tracking data. Much of this analysis traditionally relies on Area of Interest (AOI) methods, which can be labor-intensive and time-consuming—particularly when applied to dynamic stimuli such as mobile interfaces, websites, games, virtual reality environments, or data collected through eye-tracking glasses.

This talk will guide participants from traditional eye-tracking methodologies to the current state of the field, highlighting the advantages, challenges, and limitations of modern approaches.
