Main content

In addition to the scientific collections there is a considerable collection of zoological material which primarily is used for the museum’s exhibitions. Many of the objects i this collection are less well documented than in the scientific collections.

A considerable share of the material in this collection consists of mounted mammals and birds. There is also another collection of animals preserved in ethanol, mainly fishes, amphibia, herptiles, and marine invertebrates. There is also a collection of skeletal material from various animal groups.

Numerous taxa are represented which do not exist in the scientific collections. However, many of these objects are marked by age and decades of being exposed to dust, light and a variable indoor climate.

Loans from the exhibition collections could be considered, on certain conditions, to other museums but will normally not be approved for private or commercial purposes.
