We are pleased to welcome Marc Helbling as the speaker for this year’s first General Seminar. Prof. Helbling is a professor at the Department of Sociology at the University of Mannheim, executive board member of the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES) and a Research Fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Centre. He is a member of the German Expert Council on Integration and Migration (SVR) and of the scientific board of the Research Center of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). Previously, he was a full professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Bamberg and head of the Emmy-Noether research group ‘Immigration Policies in Comparison’ (IMPIC) at WZB.  The talk will be based on a paper co-authored with Felix Jäger and Rahsaan Maxwell.
