GEO had a strong showing at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Annual Convention and Exhibition held in Salt Lake City, 20-23 May with a number of oral and poster presentations ranging from palynology and environmental change in deep syn-rift lacustrine deposits to numerical modelling of turbidity currents around structurally complex sea-floor topography.
Danielle Howlett was the recipient of the SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology) Outstanding Student Poster Presentation Award from the SEPM Student Awards Poster Session, for her poster ‘Response of Unconfined Turbidity Currents to the Topography of Structurally-Controlled Seafloor Folds’. Also at the meeting, Fabian Tillmans was awarded second place in the AAPG Student Poster Session for his poster ‘Sediment Routing of Deep-Water Syn-Rift Depositional Systems Across Faulted Terraces: Late Jurassic Lomre-Uer Terraces, North Sea Rift’. CONGRATULATIONS to you both!!
