Main content

Reference management tools such as EndNote have mainly three functionalities:

  • collect reference data and pdfs in an archive/library
  • insert citations and references into a word-processing program
  • edit and organize references according to needs

We will focus on how EndNote works with Word and how to export references from various online sources. You will get the most out of the course if you work with EndNote on your own computer. The program is available for both Mac and PC. The software needs to be installed on your device before the course starts. Students and staff can download and install EndNote using their UiB account.

Installation on a UiB machine: Install EndNote via the Software Center.
Installation on laptop/personal PC: Download EndNote from the IT department's Sharepoint for software

Before starting the installation, you must exit MS Word and other MS Office software. Contact UiB IT support if you need help getting the program installed.

This is an open course, but the examples will be taken from the natural sciences. No prior knowledge of the software is required.
If there are few participants, the course may be canceled.
