About the workshop
There are numerous generative AI tools specifically developed for academic studies and research as well as AI-tools integrated in old-school software and tools. These AI tools can assist you in finding literature, understanding texts, writing, correcting grammar, and translating between languages.
But do these tools work as well as they promise? What are the drawbacks? And what should you be mindful of when using such tools, or generative AI in general?
In this workshop, you will get an overview of some available tools, what to consider before using them, and the opportunity to discuss which tasks are safely outsourced to AI and for which tasks you need full control of.
We’ll look into examples of:
different AI tools that are “customized” for academic purposes
Using AI tools to design string search
How AI tools are integrated in existing search engines (e.g. Google Scholar, Web of Science, Proquest)”
Bring your own laptop.
