Candidate to the University Board - Group B

Gerard Dwyer

Main content

Hello! My name is Gerard Dwyer and I’m currently a post-doctoral researcher at the institute for biological and medical psychology (IBMP) as a part of the ERC2 project investigating the neuronal mechanisms underlying auditory-verbal hallucinations or the experience of “hearing voices”.

I have, essentially, been a group B employee with the University of Bergen since finishing my Master’s degree in 2013, first as a research assistant, then as a Ph.D. student and now as a post-doc. My time in these positions has given me some insight into the trials and tribulations as well as the needs and priorities of employees in these positions. I have previously served as a member of the institute council as well as a deputy member for the faculty board at the faculty of psychology.

This year’s rector election reminds us of two things: Firstly, that we’re very fortunate to be one of the few universities where the rector is still elected democratically, and secondly that any democratically elected governing body is strengthened by active participation.

As a university board member, I hope to increase transparency and communication between the university board and both academic staff and students. I will be looking to create channels of communication and discussion so that I can adequately represent all temporary employees and employees in education and research positions.

I hope that you will consider me as your representative when you cast your vote!
