Support for grant applications

The administration at the Department of Informatics offers, together with the faculty and UiB’s BOA-team, several different proposal support services. It is important that you keep the department updated about planned applications.

EU: as soon as the call is out (at least 4-6 months before the deadline)

  • contact research coordinator (Stefanie Meyer)
  • if relevant: fill out the faculty's proposal info form or UiB's statement of participation, and send it to Stefanie Meyer
  • find call-specific information and templates
  • establish contact with the faculty's financial department
  • establish contact with the BOA-team (if relevant)
  • establish contact with VIS (if relevant)
  • organize info/strategy meetings
  • for larger calls: administrative coordination of proposal preparation (if needed)
  • clarify HR issues
  • clarify potential own contribution
4-8 weeks before the deadline
  • open e-proposal and give access to research coordinator and financial advisor
  • write first draft of project description
  • for EU coordinator projects: collect partner budgets
  • help to fill out the e-proposal (admin info, partner info...)
  • give feedback on your project description
2-4 weeks before the deadline
  • define budget details and contact your financial advisor at the faculty
  • request letter of support (if relevant)
  • set up the budget/quality control of the budget
  • feedback on the updated project description and CVs, maybe mock evaluation
  • prepare/request letters of support (if relevant)
1-2 weeks before the deadline
  • finish the project description, CVs, budget, e-application (as well as any other forms)
  • final quality check of the e-proposal, finish admin part, upload attachments
  • final quality check of project description and CVs
  • final quality check of the budget
  • the budget has to be approved by the institute's leadership
  • the application has to be approved by the head of department

Some calls/funding schemes will require that the above presented schedule is adapted.

The extent of the Research Section's service offers depends on when before the call deadline you contact us. The department head and administration need to be informed about all grant applications right from the beginning (planning phase). The department head needs to approve all grant applications before they are submitted. All budgets must be approved by the department's leadership.
