Prof. Tor Helleseth's 70th anniversary

Prof. Tor Helleseth had his 70th birthday celebrated at the international workshop MMC during Sept. 3 - 8 and at the Vilvite center on his birthday, Nov. 22.

The past 2017 is an important year for the Selmer Center: Prof. Tor Helleseth, whose scientific achievements in coding theory, sequence design, and cryptography have greatly contributed to the international visibility of the Selmer center as well as the Department of Informatics, University of Bergen, had his 70th birthday.

In the honor of Tor’s 70th birthday, the Selmer Center organized an international workshop Mathematical Methods for Cryptography (MMC) at Svolvær, Lofoten, Norway during September 3-8, 2018. More than 60 scientists around the world, who are experts in the fields of cryptography, coding theory, signal design and discrete mathematics, participated in the workshop, celebrated together for Tor's 70th anniversary and made a big success of the workshop.

On November 22nd, Prof. Tor Helleseth's birthday, the whole Department of Informatics, together with the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Univesity of Bergen, celebrated his birthday in VilVite center.
