Science at the University Gardens
Botanical collection and expeditions
At the heart of our collections are wild-origin plants, many acquired during collecting trips by our staff
Main content
Staff at the gardens regularly collect plant samples, herbarium vouchers, and seed (with appropriate research/collecting permits) for the purposes of research, conservation, and display at the gardens.
We use the open science platform iNaturalist to document our observations of wild plants (and other organisms) in the field, and we encourage everyone to do so too! You can also see observations from a trip in 2019 to Serbia in the dedicated project here.
Earlier collecting trips have been documented in articles published in our in-house journal Ă…rringen.
