Main content
Nikolay Stoyanov Kaleyski is an associate professor at the Selmer Center, Department of Informatics, University of Bergen. His research and teaching primary revolve around cryptography and cybersecurity, spanning topics that range from the mathematical foundations of cryptography and cryptographic objects to the practical implementation of countermeasures and operation of cybersecurity labs. More broadly, his interests include general algorithmic and mathematical methods and the implementation of software systems for efficient computations.
Kaleyski defended his PhD on the theory of cryptographic Boolean functions in 2021 and continues to work on the mathematical and computational aspects of cryptographically optimal objects. He assumed his position as associate professor in 2022, and has since been actively involved in teaching and supervision at the Department of Informatics. He developed a new course in cybersecurity and penetration testing for the department whose third iteration will take place in Autumn 2025, and is currently in the process of developing an integrated software solution for cybersecurity education which aims to make teaching practical cybersecurity easy, accessible and naturally scaleable to any number of students and any level of instruction.
