What you need to get admission to the PhD programme
Applying for admission for PhD candidates at the Dep. of Informatics
Within two months of your start up date, you must apply for admission to the PhD programme at the Department of Informatics.
Main content
In addition to the actual application (see link below), you must also prepare the following documents:
- Certificates with transcripts
- Abstract of your master's thesis
- Project description (2-5 pages, discuss this with your supervisor)
- Contract of employment (named admission contract in the application)
The application and attachments is submitted to the PhD coordinator.
Department specific instructions to the application:
- Working title: the (preliminary) title of your PhD project
- If you are part of the Bioinformatics group (CBU), your research school is MCB or NORBIS (ask your supervisor), otherwise you are part of the research school ICT
- MNF990 Theory of Science and Ethics is mandatory in the Formal part.
- Presentation of your own research work at an international conference (2 ECTS) is mandatory in the Knowledge transmission part.
- The last credit in the Knowledge transmission part is normally achieved by holding a Seminar on a chosen topic (1 ECTS), see "Content of training component" (page 11-13) in the regulations
- You should present a draft of your plan of study to your PhD coordinator before submitting the application
- Your PhD coordinator will collect the Head's signature.
