The Laboratory Animal Facility provides for service to researchers in experimental medicine.

Animal models are important in the study of physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms in animals and people. They are also significant in translational research and make the foundation for further clinical studies in patients. The knowledge from laboratory animal research is used on a daily basis when treating diseases in people and animals.

Service with focus on animal welfare

The laboratory animal unit has moderne facilities and focus on maintaining good animal welfare in research. Our services contribute to achieving reproducable and reliable research results.We also organize courses in laboratory animal science, mandatory in Norway for anyone who plan or are involved in experiments using animals.

Pay per use

The users of the Lab Animal Facility are the departments of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, other faculties and departments at the University of Bergen, Helse Bergen and other hospitals, and other research institutions.
