Infomedia is at the center of a research and education network linking Norway, Ireland, Vietnam, and wider multimedia research communities across Europe and Asia. The partnership has established visible international leadership, built long-term educational connections, and contributed to global research infrastructures used by the multimedia community worldwide.
In conversation with Infomedia, the University of Bergen's newest honorary doctor discusses the erosion of the public information space, responsible AI, and what education should look like in an age of artificial intelligence.
Infomedia has, for the first time, been awarded support through Akademiaavtalen, the research partnership between the University of Bergen and Equinor. As part of the agrrement, AI researcher Nicholas Mattei, whose work includes collaborations with NASA and IBM, joins the department as an adjunct professor for three years.

There is ongoing work in the EU for a European strategy for AI in science. We are delighted to announce that three initiatives affiliated with our department are among the 19 selected initiatives across the country that have advanced to the final round in the competition to become national research centers for artificial intelligence. “This is great news,” says Andreas Opdahl, head of one of the initiatives.
