Rhododendron-tour

We highly recommend seeing the flowering rhododendrons in the Arboretum in spring. This tour will take you on paths and hiking trails through the species collection.

Main content

The arboretum has two main collections of rhododendrons - a species collection and a cultivar collection. In this tour we see the species that are located in the pine forest north of Mørkevatnet. The forest floor is covered with heather and moss with acidic soil providing the best conditions for rhododendron to thrive. The flowering season is long, starting in early spring if the weather is mild. The best time is in April and the first half of May. The cultivars bloom later, most from mid-May onwards.

On this tour we will follow the paths and take a closer look at the species. Meet at the information board.
