The rose gardener invites you to rose paradise

Now is the time to come to the Rosary at the Arboretum, says rose gardener Stefan Reimann. He has never before seen so many of the roses bloom at the same time, and it is a fantastic journey both in colors and scents. Stefan stands and looks out over the southern slope towards the Fanafjord. There are also over 500 different roses in the genus Rosa. Norway's largest collection of roses.

Main content

The rosary shows the roses' variety, diversity and history. On the way through the collection, there is a lot of good information that you can read along the way.

The exhibition is divided into three, the wild rose hill, the historical rose collection and the rose garden itself.

In the ground with the wild roses, you can see the roses as they naturally occur in nature
In the historic hill you can see older rose varieties and cultivation history
The rose garden shows modern garden roses that we humans have bred from crosses between the species.
Many of the roses in the rose garden have been named after art and artists, but there are also names with expressions such as pink "Look Good ... Feel Better". Because precisely that description is apt; the roses look truly wonderful, and one definitely feels much better after a trip to the rose paradise.

We hope many people will make the trip to Rosen's Day in the Arboretum on Sunday 14 July. There will be a tour by rose gardener Stefan Reimann. Nautesund Plant School will be present with rare and interesting rose bushes for the hall.  These are plants you won't find at the usual garden centres. Rose enthusiasts will be present all day. They have many good rose tips for us, and long experience with roses. There will also be a small café with refreshments.

You are warmly welcome!
