Our collections

The University Museum of Bergen has one of the largest museum collections in the country. We have over four million objects related to natural and cultural history.

Entomological collections (ZMBN-ENT)

The entomological collections contain scientific collections of insects and other arthropods associated with terrestrial and limnic habitats.

Vertebrate Collections

The vertebrate collection contains about 40,000 specimens of >3200 species of fishes, birds, mammals, amphibiens, and reptiles. The Invertebrate Collections

The University Museum of Bergen houses one of the largest and most active collections of marine invertebrates in Norway, of paramount importance for the national and international research community

Herbarium BG

Herbarium BG holds collections of vascular plants, mosses, algae, lichens and other fungi. It contains a total of around 535 000 preserved specimens that are the result of nearly 200 years of collecting activities around the world with a special focus on in Western Norway.

The Museum Garden

The Museum Garden is one of the three botanical gardens of the University of Bergen. It displays many kinds of flowers, perennials, shrubs and trees – a green and lovely garden in the centre of Bergen.
