Global Health Master Programme Timeline

Master students: click on each semester to access a check list for important dates and deadlines.

First semester

Checklist:

  • Semester registration and register for classes (courses)/exams – Studentweb, deadline 1 September. Register for the following compulsory courses (adds up to 40 ECTS credits): Global health - challenges and responses (SDG303) and Methods in Global Health Research (INTH315) and only register for classes for Proposal development (INTH330B) and Research seminars (INTH326A).
  • When new students are registered in FS (Felles studentsystem), a user account will be created automatically. The student must activate the account.
    We expect you to check Mitt UiB and your student e-mail several times per week! 
  • Pay semester fee, deadline 1 September.
  • Sign up for Welcome party (annoucement of Mitt UiB).
  • Select a master project (you will receive information by e-mail). When a project and supervisor(s) have be assigned to you, you will become a member of your supervisor’s research group - read about the Research Groups at CIH.
  • Pre-select elective courses in the spring semester (annoucement of Mitt UiB).

 

Second semester

Checklist:

  • Semester registration and register for classes (courses)/exams – Studentweb, deadline 1 February. Register for elective courses (should add up to 20 ECTS credits) and only register for class for Research seminars (INTH326A). You can register for elective courses at CIH and/or other relevant and available courses at UiB and/or in the tropEd network (tution fees at most institution, except Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Institute of Tropical Medicine and International Health, Berlin), with whom CIH has a MOU).
  • Pay semester fee, deadline 1 February.
  • Participate in Research seminars (INTH326A), which take place on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. (you will receive information by e-mail) (Compulsory attendance: at least 14 seminars). Remember that you have to have two presentations (one on your project proposal and another on your findings).
  • Submission of Research proposal: 20 May (if this day falls on a week-end, the following Monday) (assignment folder on Mitt UiB, course code INTH330B).
    In addition the main supervisor should complete this form within the same deadline: Evaluation of the research proposals by the main supervisor. This is where the main supervisor gives a short statement regarding scientific soundness and feasibility of the proposed project, and documents that the supervisors have been involved in the discussion and development of the proposal.

 

Third semester

Checklist:

  • Semester registration and register for classes (courses)/exams – Studentweb, deadline 1 September. Register for the class for Research seminars (INTH326A). For those who have chosen to do an internship, register for the class and exam for Internship - master study in Global Health (INTH317).
  • Pay semester fee, deadline 1 September.
  • Participate in Research seminars (INTH326A), which take place on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. (you will receive information by e-mail) (Compulsory attendance: at least 14 seminars). Remember that you have to have two presentations (one on your project proposal and another on your findings).

 

Fourth semester

Checklist:

  • Semester registration – Studentweb, deadline 1 February. Register for the class and the exam for Research seminars (INTH326A) and for M.Phil. in Global Health - Thesis (INTH395A) or Master Thesis in Global Health (INTH395B).
  • Pay semester fee, deadline 1 February.
  • Participate in Research seminars (INTH326A), which take place on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. (you will receive information by e-mail) (Compulsory attendance: at least 14 seminars). Remember that you have to have two presentations (one on your project proposal and another on your findings).
  • Application to sit for the Master’s examination: 1 May.
