This year's election is for members in Group B and Group D, who are elected for one year at a time. The new governance period starts on 01.08.2026. The deadline for nominating candidates is 12 March at 12:00.

Electoral roll - list of those entitled to nominate and vote
To be able to nominate candidates or to be allowed to vote, you must be on the electoral roll of UiB, cf. § 6 Election regulations for UiB.
The right to nominate and vote is granted to anyone who, when the election starts:
- Is permanently employed in at least half a position or
- Is employed or engaged for at least one year in at least half a position or
- Has been continuously employed or engaged for at least one year in at least half a position
Gr. B - here you can check if you are on the electoral roll. The electoral roll will be updated in March.
Gr. D (students) - here you can check if you are on the electoral roll. The electoral roll will be updated in March.
Anyone who is eligible has the right to nominate.

The following members will be elected to the Department Council at GEO this year
Group B (temporary employees in academic positions including fellows) - 1 member and at least 2 alternate members from and among Gr. B
Group D (students) - 3 representatives and at least 2 alternate members from and among Gr. D
The Department Council consists of a total of 11 members. In addition to those up for election in 2026, there are 5 members from Group A (permanent academic employees) and 2 members from Group C (technical and administrative positions) who have been elected for the election period 2025 - 2029.

How to submit proposals for members of the Department Council - the deadline is March 12 at 12:00
Proposals are submitted in February-March each year for the groups concerned. The proposals must be submitted no later than 12:00 on March 12, 2026.
- The proposal must be in writing
- It must be signed by at least the same number of proposers as the number of candidates the proposal contains
- The proposer must meet the criteria for voting rights
- No one may sign more than one proposal
- The proposed candidates must be eligible for election
- If candidates who can claim exemption from election are proposed, the proposal must be accompanied by written consent from the person concerned
- The proposal must have been received no later than 12:00 on March 12, 2026
- The proposals must be scanned and sent by e-mail to both gry.parker@uib.no (secretary of the electoral committee) and andrea.grimnes@uib.no (contact person at the department).
