Professor Michele Cooke, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Professor Marco Antonellini, University of Bologna, were opponents, whereas Professor Harald James Walderhaug was internal member of the commitee. Unfortunately, Professor Antonellini was prohibitet to participate and Professor Isabelle Lecomte acted as set opponent.

The defence was led by Professor Ritske Sipke Huismans, Department of Earth Science, UiB.
