How to read the programme
The programme provides an overview of the voluntary activities offered by the University of Bergen (UiB), listed in order day by day.
Check when your programme starts. The academic year begins Monday 10 August, but welcome meetings and lectures for your programme may start later. Find your start date and time under "New student?" on your study programme page (Global Development: Theory and Practice).
Master's Buddy Week (Fadderuke). The Master’s Buddy Week Committee organizes its own activities for master’s students at the faculty. The events start on Monday, August 10th, and you will receive an email when more information is ready.
Remember the practical things you must arrange — semester fee, registration, student card and more — in your checklist in UiBtreet, UiB's student portal.
Before the welcome week
Gjenbruksfestivalen (reuse festival)
- When: Sunday 9 August, 11.00–15.00

The welcome week 10–16 August
Even if your study programme starts later, you're welcome to join these from Monday 10 August.
Monday 10 August
Welcome ceremony
- When: 10.00
- Where: Muséplass
UiB marks the start of the academic year. The ceremony is in Norwegian with English subtitles. About the welcome ceremony.
Tuesday 11 August
Hike to Fløyen
- When: 17.30–20.00
- Where: outside the Fløibanen funicular, Vetrlidsallmenningen 23A

Wednesday 12 August
Outdoor cinema with Bergen Internatonal Filmfestival (social)
- When: 21.30–00.30
- Where: the lawn outside the Geophysical Institute, Allégaten 70

Morning Fun at Kvarteret (social)

Find your student association (in English) (social)

Sammen's English-language session on how to find a student organisation that fits you. About the event.
Student Life Day at Psykfak (social)
- When: Wednesday 19 August, 13.00–14.00
- Where: Dialogen, Christies gate 12
A fair where the faculty's student organisations have stands in Dialogen — come by, chat with them and find what you'd like to join. There's something for everyone: student politics, social events, academics, sports and culture. Your student advisor is also there for drop-in guidance and help with semester registration. We serve coffee.
