Open Educational Resources Commons Officially Opens
The Centre of International Health (CIH) is part of a global action to improve the practice of continuous learning, collaboration, and change in the education sector.
Main content
Open Educational Resources (OER) Commons is based on a theory of action that contains three levels of engagement— Study, Open, and Build. The portal is developed and powered by the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), which is located in California.
Cross-university - multidisciplinary collaboration
The University of Bergen (UiB) is one of 3 Nordic universities that have worked together to establish Nordic University OER hub, focusing on Global Health. The other 2 are the University of Copenhagen and the University of Uppsala. Ana Lorena Ruano, Bente Moen and Gunhild Koldal from CIH have represented UiB in this activity as well as Tane Holm Høisæter from the Communication Division at UiB.
The Nordic University OER hub includes educational resources in Global Health. Thus far, 15 topics in Global Health are covered with between 1 and 65 resources in each!
Bente Moen says that with its Open Author and collaborating opportunities, the site gives new and interesting opportunities for all who teach in Global Health. She adds that it will be especially important for partner institutions in low-income countries, where capacity-building and capacity strengthening in global health take place.
The Nordic University OER hub website was launched on 17.09.2018. The project is funded by Norplus - Nordic Higher Education.
